Computerization in society
Since the beginning of the world, the humanity has made a lot of progress. Men invented a lot of things to improve life quality. For example, the wheel has increased the speed and the quality of things, we can transport. Clay modeling has permitted to the first populations to bring water and to cook. More recently, electricity mastery has given us the power to animate an incredible number of tools. Those ones, by their efficiency, have changed our way of life for raised it to an higher level. This search for a softer environment brings us to create a world that is very far from the ground and the Earth. As far as communication is concerned; this planet, the Earth, can now be compared to a vulgar village.
How did we, in a short laps of time, compare something that we judged infinitely big, five hundred years ago, to a small global village? Which tool gave us enough power to simply erase the nature barrier and let the spirit go free… go where ever it wants? Computer! As predicted few decades ago, the computerization broke all the installed rules to give the humanity possibility that were unimaginable not so long ago. The many different applications of this incredibly powerful machine are numerous. I will try, in the few following pages, to describe how it affects us in every day life.
First of all, I will talk to you about my positive arguments for this invention. As I said before, the computerization takes an important place in our society. We now have many possibilities, and this invention changed the human life like never before. One of these possibilities is information diffusion. Few years ago, when he needed information, he had to wait to the TV news or the newspaper, but with the multimedia computers, if he want to know some information, per example, the last opinion poll in politics, you have it right now!
Today a lot of people need computers for their jobs or simply in their everyday life. It helps to improve efficiency in some specific fields of activity. I am a good example to prove this affirmation. As you know I am an handicaped person and my personal computer helps me to have a better life quality. I can not do any physical activity, so for this reason my computer helps me to have some freedom. It also gives me the opportunity to do some high studies on my own, with anyone to write for me. I have also got a lot of practical accessories that have been developed with computer assistance.
To continue, I will talk to you about my arguments against this invention. Like all others new products we must be careful not to abuse of this technology, because it can be very bad for your physical, mental and social health. The first reason that come to my mind, is that when you are in front of your computer, you do not move a lot and you become lazy. The computer's screen is also very damageable for the eyes. Another problem that I am concern is "internet". Since I have find this fabulous mass of information and entertainment, I spend too much time in front of it and often forget my social life. The More importance you give to this technology the more addicted you become.
Another major change caused by computerization is the replacement of human workers by automates. With this mecanicals workers you just have to control the computer, give it some electricity and it will do the rest on it own. With this invention, you can easily do some operations too dangerous for an human being, increase the speed of on assembly line and let it work 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. This working capacity creates a diminution of employees need. By improving the production capacity of these business by employing automates, the industries put the human right to work to the trash. Since the beginning, humanity have not needed those machines to do quality work and I think that it should stay like this.
In the future, if the technology continues to progress like today, the humans will have to find a way to stay in communication. Because the only thing we can do in front of a computer screen is individual activities. I think that the world is egocentric enough and egoist and if we want to improve it, we'll have to helps-us each others and be good listeners for those ones who need us. But it seems that the wave will be hard to deviate, those who use this technology for money making won't understand my point of view. They only want to feed the tendency that they have started who push-us to believe that computerization is essential. They also control the numerous technological evolution in the goal to obligate people to recycle their surpassed 2 years old computer for something that is falsely soil like revolutionary.
I found, if you look with the internet, you have to make an important investment to follow this technology and a lot of person can. If you can not buy those equipment our system can not work very well, I can tell you because I use this technology every week. Like me many persons become addicted(drogue), when you can not have access for those things like electricity, TV and computer and it is hard to live without those things.
An important point before I finish my arguments against those technologies, is that we have built an important system but we have serious difficulty to control it. If you look on the internet, we can not control the content. There is too much violence, pedophilia and illegal sites who gives very bad advises. We have to make an effort to correct that for a better future.
To conclude, those inventions have a important and great side. They are very practical but their evolution is too fast. We must take this evolution in control, adapt it to those who don't have the means to use it. I think it is with reasons you may be able to understand my opinion about those technology!
