Your city or town seen from its tallest building.
I was born in Quebec City, specificaly in Charlesbourg. I have lived there for 25 years. I like my city, I chose this topic, the most beautiful city in North America. This jewel has a lot of beautiful things to see, smell, hear, touch taste. That is why I choose Complex G to see Quebec. If you are ready to feel Quebec City, follow me!
On the 31st floor, when the elevator doors open, you can see all of Quebec's angles. You realize from up here, that this city is pretty small and cozy, people live close together and are very friendly with one another, as well as with visitors. A look to the east, you have the Plains of Abraham, people having fun, relaxing enjoy life . You have the Castel called "Le Château Frontenac" which is the must photographed hotel and the Citadel, two living symbols of our history The Island of Orléans, the smell of berries and all other fruits and vegetables it provides
A look to the west, you have " Le Pont de Québec ", the 8th wonder of the world if they would give it another coast of pain. Endless fields of unspoiled nature, to remind yourself of times past, when all that mattered was the love of two people and the love of the land. To the North, the mountains and the forest called "Les Laurentides", are fabulous for living because it is so quiet. In particular, when the leaves on the trees turn yellow and red, it is like a slice of paradise. And to the south, the "St-Laurence River" where the waves of our souls hit the base of the mighty "Cap Diamant", and a trip on the ferry boat gives a wonderful panoramic view of the entrance of the city.
Both are so close to the city. We are very lucky to live so near to nature. If you compare Quebec to other cities like Montreal, Toronto or New York, you will find Quebec is closer to nature and easier to reach. Another advantage for living, we can live without pollution. I smell the clean air, from the 31st floor and you can smell history. Quebec was the first city in North America, built by Samuel De Champlain in 1610 during the French occupation. In 1763 she was taken by the English after a historical battle on the amazing Plains of Abraham between the old capital and the St-Lawrence river. In 1867 she became a Canadian city, but for a lot of citizens she is a Quebec city, but this story is too complicated!
The St-Lawrence river is the most important maritime road
into North America, she is a door for all the boats bringing supplies
like fuel, food and wood and also travellers from Europe, Asia
and the rest of the world. And we have the biggest waterfall in
the world they call "Montmorency Falls". When you watch
this city and this river, you realize the impact of this in the
past and the future, and you smile
I think I know why the visitors like to come he here, it is because
the citizens have another culture and language. The visitors can
touch, hear and fell the distinct character of the citizens, who
want to be unique, happy and different. The architecture of Quebec
is interesting for the visitors and helps them to learn our history
of 400 years, and proving the importance of our city.
Because this city is in the North, we have 4 seasons in 1 year. In winter, you smell the alpine skiing fever, as you know, we have a lot of snow and great mountains. On the 31st floor, you can see "Mont St-Anne" and "Le Relais", which are the most popular places for skiing in the city. Also in winter, we have "Le Carnaval de Quebec". This celebration of the snow gives some great heat to the month of February, with it is parties and parades. But if I can give you advice, don't forget to bring a bottle of "Caribou".
If you look at Quebec city with your smell and taste, you realize the importance of the food, because we have many many restaurant from every culture like French, Italian, American, Chinese, Mexican and Québécoise. If you like those restaurants, forget your diet, believe me! Also, we have our own creation called "Poutine". It is made with french fries, cheese and brown gravy and it is very delicious, you have to try it! Just by looking at the mountains in the South, you see "La Beauce" where maple syrup is made. In spring, if you have the chance to visit a "cabane à sucre", you will have the chance to tast another traditional kind of food based on the sugar extracted from maple trees. The only thing wrong, when you look around the old capital, is the pollution of the St-Lawrence and St-Charles Rivers, that you will be able to taste or smell in the future, with the new law and purification industry.
For me, I am very happy to live in this city, Québec, you are my home and country. You brought me smile and made me happy. I know my roots and keep them forever, forget, I will never
